Ragini MMS Music Review (BD)

BD Music Review :Ragini MMS

Ragini MMS
Music Director:Shamir Tondon
BD Music Rating:**1/2

Itne Kareeb Aao
Singer:Raaj
A jazz feel to the album. Nothing more or innovative at music section. But the singer feels the song completely and that makes the song a worth to listen.

Ragini
Singer:Faizan Hussain & Agnel Roman
Probably the best of the album is here! I seriously miss here the Kailash Kher - Sneha Khanwalkar combination. The song is very rich in terms of sound design and mixing. But the song lacks good lyrics and singing.Rap portion does covers a bit but overall the savior here is guitars. Crazy crazy guitars!!

And another track is Raat Akeli Hai from Jewel Thief, for which I neither have the right nor have the gutts to review such brilliant classic.

Basically Ragini MMS has not bothered for the music section. But I feel Sneha Khanwalkar who did wonders with OLLO and LSD should have been roped here. She fused the music in the films like LSD where music section was never needed. And yet she did it beautifully.

Dum Maro Dum Movie Review (BD)

Bollywood Dil se Movie Review:Dum Maro Dum
Rating:****

Movie Information:IMDB Link

Cast:Abhishek Bachchan,Aditya Pancholi ,Monty Munford,Bipasha Basu,Rana Daggubati,Prateik,Anaitha Nair
Direction:Rohan Sippy

Genre: Thriller,Action,Drama

Duration: 2 hours 10 minutes

Movie Overview:
There was so much of antagonistic vibes about the movie prior to the release.People were more sort of afraid rather than reluctant to see Junior AB in the action after his utter fail Game (Check its movie review here). Personally speaking, my mates even bullied me as a goose like die hard fan of Abhishek (Some even felt that I watched premier due to Dipika's number, perverts!).

But I was sure to catch the premier because of two reasons: first - Sridhar Raghavan and second - Sriram Raghavan.

The man is currently directing "Agent Vinod" ft. Saif in an Indian Avtar of James Bond. Previously,he has directed my very favourite thriller Johnny Gaddaar. Where as story writter here Sridhar Raghavan is a successful screenplay writer of Khakee, Apaharan and 6 more. After Kashyaps, I was sure that Sridhar will prove his name as of his brother and so I was kicked.

Let me clarify in the beginning only that a film cant work on sheer style (eg. Tashan) or sheer story (eg. Salaam - E - Ishq / Dus Kahaniyaan). A film should be okay in all the fields of cinema and brilliant in some of them. Here the brilliance is in direction, script and star cast.

Abhishek Bachchan as a cop has never failed! He was a pleasure to watch. So comfortable on screen ( Not to forget Bipasha lacked screen presence this time). The movie is very gripping and engaging. Thanks to good screenplay. It was almost perfect.

Goa was never so splendorous! Looked as if I was watching Rio De Janeiro. By the time when movie ends, you are smiling.

The movie has another good cameo (not Dipika)!! It would be a spoiler if I reveal the name.

Quick Review:

Cast:
Very Apt for the story.Jr AB as cop, Rana as DJ, Pratiek-Anaitha as teen lover all are perfect.Bipasha lacks edge.Aditya Pancholi is good.Rest are okay.

Story And Screenplay:
A very positive aspect for the movie. Screenplay is good. Dialogues are crisp and witty at the same time entertaining."MC yaa BC - Middle Class yaa Business Class..."  "Main Sirf Duty Par Pita Hoon.." "Mere Paas Maal Hai..." will be remembered by one and all!

Editing And Cinematography:
The editing as i said could have been tighter(which I always say).Cinematography by Amit Roy is brilliant. Camera angles have never been more slick. This is an aspect which nowadays is strong in all the movies take it as Game, Thank You or 3 Thay Bhai.Goa as mentioned is a central character here.

Music And Background Score:
Music by Prittam is a mixed bag.( Read Music Review here). Thayn Thayn is the new replacement of Dabbangg Giri! BGM by MIDIval punditz is mind blowing. Almost Rahmanic! (They are TTV for India in Electronics!)

Direction:
A very well directed movie by Rohan Sippy. Full of style and sensibility. This is the third consecutive film of his with Jr AB (Kuch Naa Kaho and Bluffmaster) and the co ordination is clearly visible.

So take a puff darling and enjoy this stylish flick of the month! After I was out from the movie I decided to go with a three and a half, But by now, I feel a lenient four would not be exaggeration.

Haunted 3 D Music Review (BD)

BD Music Review : Haunted 3 D

Haunted 3 D
Music Director:Chitranjan Bhatt
Lyrics:Junaid Wasi, Shakeel Azmi
BD Music Rating:***1/2

Tum Ho Mera Pyar
Singer: K.K.
I frankly find this song overrated. Song is no doubt soft romantic number easy on ears but it should not be promoted as the front liner of the movie. K.K. is good. Music of the song is bad.Due to ordinary music the song could have fitted in any Bhatts' movies like Raaz, Raaz 2 or Zehar. One can imagine Emraan Hashmi singing the love song while hearing this one.Lyrics by Shakeel Azmi for just this song. And it seems there was no need of guest lyricist if you have an efficient man Junaid Wasi on the job.

Jaaniya
Singer:Siddharth Barur
Siddharth Barur is another new name in Bollywood. The piano in the start misleads the song to be a trademark Bhatt film song. But as soon as the singer starts his job all apprehension fades away. The key point of the album i find is its commercial appeal. Lyrics are simple and hummable and the catch applies not just for this song but for the whole album.Smart strategy by Bhatts.Music is good sans innovations.

Tera Hi Bas Hona Chahoon
Singer:Jojo, Najam Sharaz
Lyrics ! Lyrics! Lyrics are the best part for this song."khuda ko dikh raha hoga, naa dil tujhse juda hoga, teri taqdeer main mujhko, woh ab to likh raha hoga." This is something which makes an otherwise ordinary song on music a loveable and hummable song. The new pakistani talent launched by bhatt camp via this plateform is Najam Sharaz. Its like an extended version of Prittam songs but anyhow one would loop the song again and again.

Mujhe De De Har Gum Tera
Singers:Siddharth Barur
Siddharth Barur yet again. The song looks like a mixture of Tera Hi hona Chahoon And Jaaniya.Nevertheless an average song. The singer sounds weird when he pronounces word "tu"(You).
You Are So Beautiful
Singers:Nikhil DSouza
The song sweetly stings right form the beginning.Scorching acoustics sounds vintage. And here is the brilliant vocalist Nikhil D'Souza. He is back again  in top notch after Main Jiyunga of Break Ke Baad. His voice sounds so familiar yet so distinguished.I am deeply in love with the song. And the brilliant track simply kills you with dagger of love when it reaches around 3:39.The moment when singer sings "Jeena mushkil ho jaata hai.." and a lover might skip a heart beat or two!

Sau Baras
Singers:Tia Bajpai
Sau Baras is the last one by the lead lady of the movie "Tia Bajpayi" (I know her real name is Twinkle as she was a participant in Sa Re Ga Ma). I never thought she could be so brilliant in singing. She literally feels the song and makes you do the same. The situational song has the lyrics of a horror movie. Music is even soothing. A good end to the album.

I am glad that there are no remixes to kill the ambiance created by the music. Though no song except You Are So Beautiful is outstanding, none of them is bad either. But due to lack in the uniqueness at the music department, i am going with a three and a half out of five.

P.S.: I was seriously disappointed with the cinematography of songs. Just saw video of Jaaniya and it completely misfits the song.Sigh!

I AM Music Review (BD)

Bollywood Dil Se Music Review: I AM

I AM
Music Director:Amit Trivedi, Rajiv Bhalla, Vivek Phillip
Lyrics:Amitabh Varma ,Amitabh Bhattacharya
BD Music Rating:***

Baangur
Singer: Mame Khan,Kavita Sheth
To begin with, I was chuffed to see Mame Khan on the artist name.He was outstanding in Aitbaar from No One Killed Jessica. The song is definitely low on standards than the previous one but a descent attempt for sure.Guitars give the song a Jazz feel. And Harmonium gives it a groovy Indian feel.Lyrics are suitable for folk songs.A folk version of this song would have been much better than the rock one.In the end, I still look forward to Mame Khan.
Issi Baat Pe
Singer:Krishnakumar Kunnath
The next is  the song by K.K.The composition is by Amit Trivedi. The genre of the song is basically a rock. Amit Trivedi has proved his versatility in Aisha And Ameer but somehow he prefers more of rock and its something that hinders me.The song has the best lyrics of the album"bojh banke rahe kyon subah issi raat pe, aa badal daale rasmein sabhi issi baat pe".And Sitars could not have been better. It sounds a little like Geet Main Dhalte Lafzon Main from Udaan.Nevertheless, a soulful song.

Bhojhal Se
Singer:Krishnakumar Kunnath
Bhojal Se is a sad semi - rock sung by K.K. The tune is simple yet mesmerizing.Composition is by Rajiv Bhalla. The Various Indian sounds like flute keeps you engaged throughout the song. The song gets intoxicating as soon as the interlude of the song begins. Lyrics, now sounds too touchy and deep. Very impressive track. The tune reminds you the famous style of Ismail Darbar.A well composed piece overall!

Aankhein
Singers:Karthik
The song is again a soft rock / fusion.Composer for the song is Vivek Phillip,Onir's discovery.Karthik proves the reason for his super success in south Indian cinema as a vocalist. He is exceptional here.
One will simply feel the song and enjoy it too.
Saye Saye
Singers:Rekha Bhardwaj, Mohan
This song contains very efficient singers Rekha and Mohan. And they do a commendable job. But song is not catchy at first listen. One might love it for musical variance but the song is definitely not hummable.Another problem with the song is it sounds like Aankh Micholi of Dev D.And so an easy task to guess, its Amit Trivedi on music dept.Lyrics makes the song even more intense. So the song is situational to the movie and I doubt its commercial success (which somehow goes with the most of the tracks of the album).

Wundoo Yeredoo
Singers:Rajiiv Bhalla
The song is composed by Rajiv Bhalla. The title means one two in Telugu. The song consists of Hindi/English/Punjabi/Telugu words and yet you feel that lyrics are lame courtesy bad tune.Interlude of the song is the best part of the track and makes it a foot tapping song. But song falls badly on sound designs.Beats seem like a remix by an amateur DJ.The female singer, has done a superior job than Rajiv Bhalla but she is not credited for the song.Sigh! You might hear the song accidentally on radio channel or car stereos.

To sum up, we have three more remixes. So overall the music of I AM is new and unconventional. The music is worth a buy but at the same time an avoidable catch for those who love typical bollywood tracks.

Shor In The City Music Review (BD)

Shor In The City
Music Director:Sachin Jigar, Harpeet
Rating:*** 1/2

Saibo
Singer: Tochi Raina,Shreya Ghoshal
Sachin - Jigar uses the trump card of Amit Trivedi this time. This song is the best of the album. Sachin - Jeegar after successful musical F.A.L.T.U. has a good start here.Tochi Raina sounds mesmerising. He is in top notch here.Simply Splendid!I feel due to the pitch bend used here, Tochi sounds like Himesh Reshammiya and that's a complement for sure.
Karma
Singer: Suraj Jagan, Priya Panchal, Swati Mukund
Okay. Now heres the problem. A hard rock song. The problem lies in its lyrics and tone. It is a good treat for sure but sounds much like Amit Trivedi's art work.Looks like Duo is seriously inspired by AT.

Shor
Singer:Mohan
Such a great singer.Few people know that he is the lead of indian rock band "Agnee". He has a great future in Bollywood. His all songs are hit! Take it Khanabadosh (London Dreams) Or Naav (Udaan). But sad a dark soft rock is a total duh! Again Mohan sang previously for AT. And now i am furious.

Dheem Dheem
Singers:Shriram Iyer
The last original for the album.Sadly only four original tracks are included in soundtrack. The track is again a rock but with essence of Indian flavor.Feels good to ears.
Rests are the remixed versions of songs from Kailash Kher And Roop Kumar Rathod. Say it Reprise!
So its a mixed bag for Sachin - Jigar after fantastic F.A.L.T.U. The lead reason being huge inspiration from Amit Trivedi, The album doesn't sound Fresh, exclude Saibo here. That's a masterpiece for sure.

Game Movie Review (BD)

Article first published as Review: Game (2011) on Technorati By Me.

Bollywood Dil Se Movie Review:Game

Movie Information:IMDB Link
Cast:Abhishek Bachchan, Sarah-Jane Dias, Kangna Ranaut, Shahana Goswami
Direction:Abhinay Deo
Genre: Thriller, Romance
Release Date:1 April

Movie Overview:
Game by Abhinay Deo (the same director of Aamir khan's Delhy Belly) falls much lower than expectations. Abhishek claimed that the movie will click even in world cup fever throughout India.

Alas! The movie is merely a spoof of good thrillers of mid 70's of Bollywood with exotic locations, Sylish cinematography and efficient star cast.

The film vastly fails in terms of story and screenplay. The real spirit of a thriller is missing here. Or say the soul is missing in the film.

Cast:
Except Kangna Ranaut And Abhishek Bachan the rest of the cast is strictly okay. Even Anupam Kher and Boman Irani seems wasted here.

Editing And Cinematography:
The editing is lousy. Within few minutes, you get troubled and puzzled. Even the second half is boring which rarely happens in the case of a thriller. Cinematography by Kartik Vijay is mind blowing and one of the few positive aspects of the movie. The style quotient in the movie is due to him.

Story And Screenplay:
Althea Delmas Kaushal is the name behind both the departments. And he has failed miserably. Screenplay is rather confusing than interesting. Story is okay. Some twists and turns are very well projected but badly conceived by the director. The dialouges by Farhan Akhtar are good.

Music And Background Score:
Another weak factor. Not a singe song is hummable.Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy needs to rediscover them.

Direction:
Abhinay Deo has a disappointing start at Bollywood. Lets see what more is in the queue (after the pink comedy Delhi Belly.)

My overall summation of this film is that it's exactly opposite than the tag line: "It's not Over 'till it's Over" - it's a Game over for this stylish thriller.

F.A.L.T.U. Movie Review (BD)

Bollywood Dil Se Movie Review:F.A.L.T.U.

Movie Information:IMDB Link (some mistakes in cast there - No Amitabh or Abhishek here)

Cast:Jackky Bhagnani,Puja Gupta,Riteish Deshmukh,Arshad Warsi,Angad Bedi ,Chandan Roy Sanyal

Direction:Remo

Genre: Drama, Comedy

Duration: 2 hours

Movie Overview:
F.A.L.T.U. as obvious from the promos is very much inspired by Accepted (2006, I remember the movie tickled my funny bones). The movie marks the debut of Remo as a bollywood director.(He has a Bengali film in his bag as director).I had quite low expectations from the movie though the music was awesome(check out its review in this blog).

But I must say i under rated Remo. The movie is total-fun. The first half of the movie is as smooth as the original one. Funny dialogues, rich cinematography and sizzling star cast (yes the actress is charmer).

The problem starts in the second half. The movie loses its pace here.Screenplay gets quirky. Some meaningless melodrama here and some unwanted sequences(the film could have been tighter by 10 minutes).

By the mid of second half I thought that the attempt is not honest. The sudden transformation of genre from comedy to drama is a bit jerky. But all this complains came to an end as soon as the climax arrived( thanks to the ace choreography by Remo, something world class!). In last 10 minutes you feel that the effort by Remo is honest and honest enough to overtake the original movie. You cant manage but smile in the end when you leave the theatre.

Not to forget the tremendous audience response at the theatres(commendable as the world cup fever is on). If the world cup trivia and more hyped (GAME) was not the hurdle, the movie would have been a super hit for sure.Lets see how far it can go now.

Frankly the concept(though copied) is better than 3 Idiots (I personally find the movie over ratted). One should see it for sure.

Quick Review:

Cast:
Youthful and funny.Enough to describe the cast.Jacky and pooja sizzle on the screen.Chandan Roy Sanyal is brilliant again(as in Kaminey). This boy will rule here for sure.
Arshad warsi as google(metaphor-the person with all the solutions, i doubt why many reviewers failed to understand that) is gracing.Riteish Deshmukh as Principal Baaji Rao is a bit loud.
Story And Screenplay:
Not much to credit here as the story and screenplay at an extent(Mayur Puri who has more flops than hits) is not original. Some bollywood tadka to story is okay.

Editing And Cinematography:
The editing as i said could have been tighter. The over exposure of the official website was something kiddish.Again First half is brilliant and second half is okay.Film is shot with good different angles. And locations especially the college is exotic.Songs are shot very well(looks Remo's influence here).

Music And Background Score:
The best soundtrack in recent cinema. As i repeatedly mentioned in music review, the soundtrack is perfect for Background Score. And the same thing is done here by very talented Sachin - Jigar (with musical Teree Sang on their credit). The average songs like Awaaz do and Percentage is exceptionally placed well in the movie.

Direction:
As mentioned, The direction is good as compared to other choreographers turned directors (Ganesh Acharya, Farah Khan and likes) but he has still a long way to go. Nevertheless a good effort.

So F.A.L.T.U. is definitely not a faltu movie and should be enjoyed by one and all.
